Questions

What is a masked Aadhaar?

A copy of your Aadhaar where the first 8 digits of the number are hidden and only the last 4 show. It is enough for most identity checks and much safer to share.

Why hide the QR code?

The QR code holds your details in machine-readable form, so anyone can scan it even if the printed text is covered.

Can I open the password-protected e-Aadhaar PDF?

Yes. You'll be asked for the password (the first 4 letters of your name in capitals plus your year of birth). It only unlocks the file in your browser.

Is my Aadhaar uploaded anywhere?

No. The text is read and covered inside your browser, and the file never leaves your device.

This PDF is password-protected

e-Aadhaar PDFs use the first 4 letters of your name in CAPITALS followed by your year of birth (e.g. RAVI1991). Bank statements often use part of your name, date of birth or customer ID.

The password only unlocks the file in this tab. It isn't saved or sent anywhere, and the copy you download has no password.
