How to blur part of a PDF

  1. Drop your PDF above (up to 50 pages and 25 MB).
  2. Review the highlighted details: emails, phone numbers, ID and account numbers. Accept the ones to blur.
  3. Drag a box over anything else you want blurred, such as a signature or a stamp.
  4. Adjust the blur strength, preview the result, and download the blurred PDF.

Blurred for real, not just covered up

Many PDF editors draw a blurred or black shape on top of the page while the original text stays underneath, ready to be copied out. Blur Document rebuilds every page from pixels, so whatever is under the blur is gone from the exported file, along with hidden layers, form fields and metadata.

The trade-off: text in the exported PDF can no longer be selected or searched.

Blur or black out?

Blur looks softer and is ideal for photos, signatures and backgrounds. For short text such as account or ID numbers, a solid box is safer, because heavily structured text can sometimes be guessed back from a light blur. You can switch any time between Blur, Pixelate and Solid in the Redaction style panel, and the editor warns you when blur sits over text.

Private by design

Your file is opened, read and exported inside your browser tab. It is never uploaded, so nobody (including us) can see it.

Can I blur only part of a PDF page?

Yes. Drag a box over exactly the area you want blurred, on any page. Everything else stays sharp.

Is there a page limit?

PDFs of up to 50 pages and 25 MB. Every page is checked for sensitive details.

Will the blurred text be recoverable?

Not from the file: the page is rebuilt from pixels, so the original text is gone. For short numbers, choose the Solid style for the strongest protection.

This PDF is password-protected
